When many people hear the phrase "giving up sugar & flour" they go into panic mode & immediately say or think something like:  I could never do that  or I could only do that for a short time or I would never do that or  That would take all the fun out of life & feel like deprivation or That's extreme or Moderation in all things or  I'm addicted to sugar & flour, I could never STOP???? WHAT??? If you've ever thought one of those things or a variation of them, you're in the right place.  I was there too.  And it's so much more delicious on the other side now that sugar & flour don't rule me or control me.  It's so much yummier than all that sugar & flour ever was. It can be tough to consider a life where sugar, refined foods & flour don't have SUCH A CRAZY HUGE CONTROL & INFLUENCE IN your life.  There are a few reasons for this

Have you ever been to a restaurant with friends and found yourself overeating? I know, it may seem almost like a rhetorical question, I may as well be asking, is the sky blue (or grey in Seattle where I am-although today is sunny! YAY!!). UM, yeah it is blue (or grey in Seattle) and UM, yeah, I have been at a restaurant with friends & overeaten. Have you ever been at said restaurant and felt yourself "feeling out of control". You keep eating & eating, you're getting fuller to the point of pain & then you beat yourself up afterwards? That may also seem like a rhetorical question...maybe not, either way is just fine. There is a reason why this happens. You aren't bad. There is nothing "wrong" with you.  When we are in a space with other people, it's easier for the brain to be distracted & overeat. Does your brain ever tell you that you have to lose weight to be loved or love-able?  Does your brain ever tell you that you have to lose weight to be "enough"? Does your brain ever tell you that you have to lose weight to be "worthy"? Does your brain ever tell you that you have to lose weight to be "deserving"? Does your brain ever tell you that you have to lose weight or be a mom or be married to "have true purpose in life"? DO YOU NOTICE YOUR BRAIN FIXATING ON FOOD? WHAT YOU'LL HAVE FOR BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER...ALL THE TIME? WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE FREE OF THE CONSTANT RUNNING THOUGHTS AROUND FOOD? IF THIS IS YOU,  READ ON!!  THIS IS FOR YOU! GOOD NEWS: YOU GET TO CHOOSE YOUR THOUGHTS!! WHAT?? YEP! YOU DO We have SOO many thoughts about food, about eating, about how it should be done, and shouldn't be done & most of them are on auto-pilot.  We don't think to examine things like: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day...is it? Or is it a marketing campaign? You have to eat 5-6 times a day...do you? Or does it work better to let your body's insulin rest? I really want a cheeseburger, cheeseburgers make me feel happy...does it? Or does it just numb you out for a bit & then cause a cycle of self-shame? or  I really need a diet coke, fries & some brownies, that always calms me down...does it? Or again, doesn't it just result in self-punishment
