3 CRITICAL THINGS TO UNDERSTAND
TO CREATE FREEDOM FROM EMOTIONAL EATING: PART 1
Hi Beautiful
friends!!
Sending you love
from Washington State!
I love talking
about the brain-it’s the most amazing gift & machine on the planet. How
fortunate we are to have a brain! I mean it! I’m not a neural scientist, nor do
I claim to be, I just love learning about it so that I can be more happy,
efficient & successful by learning the basics about programming my own
mental “software”.
I want to share
with you 3 critical points to understand about your brain to help you begin to
create emotional freedom & healing around food.
3 CRITICAL POINTS: Our brain is
wired instinctively to:
1 **Seek Pleasure
2 **Avoid Pain/Discomfort
3 **Be Efficient
(WE WILL DISCUSS **AVOID PAIN & **BE EFFICIENT IN PARTS 2 & 3 NEXT 2 BLOGS)
(WE WILL DISCUSS **AVOID PAIN & **BE EFFICIENT IN PARTS 2 & 3 NEXT 2 BLOGS)
Ok, you might be
asking, why is this important or relevant.
Well…let me explain what each one
looks like & then we’ll get to that.
1-FIRST: THE
BRAIN’S WIRING TO SEEK PLEASURE:
Our brains are
wired instinctively to seek pleasure. In other words, our brains seek to repeat
things that “feel” good because that’s the way our brain sends our body
information that it could be a good thing and if we keep doing that, it could
help us stay alive.
The challenge
with this is that there are TONS of things out in the world that may “feel”
good for a moment, but they have a cumulative negative result.
FOR EXAMPLE: Eating
a pint of ice cream or a pan of brownies, or cereal or snacks late at night
ONLY “feels good” for a short amount of time when we are feeling sad,
disappointed, let down, afraid.
It “feels good” for a short amount of time because
of the extra concentrated chemical hit of the sugar but as you know, it doesn’t
provide long-lasting well-being.
The
brain registers the sugar hit as an easy way to numb out some of the
emotions—then our brain focuses on the hit of sugar instead of the emotions we
are experiencing & THEN OUR BRAIN SCREAMS: DO THAT AGAIN!
It can be a
vicious cycle when we don’t understand that our brain’s own wiring to seek
pleasure doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with us, it just means we have a
human brain.
It can be a
vicious cycle being caught in it the downward spiral & not knowing how to
get out OR understanding that there is a way to get out!
AND THERE IS A WAY TO
GET OUT! IT IS POSSIBLE!
This is what I teach & coach on in my program Create Freedom From Emotional eating.
